Stop BLS from moving - contact Sen. Cardin's office now!
Updated On: Mar 26, 2020

Dear Local 12 members:

Senator Cardin is in dialogue with other Congressional leaders about the fate of BLS, in particular whether to support moving BLS out to Suitland.  Please contact his office immediately with the message below.

We are asking all BLS members, all BLS employees, all Local 12 members and all other Maryland residents to do so now!  (modify the message as needed)

To: Gray_Maxwell@cardin.senate.gov and Andrew_Perlstein@cardin.senate.gov

Senator Cardin

My name is [NAME] and I am an AFGE Union member of Local 12 at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. I am writing to express my concern with the relocation of the Bureau of Labor Statistics from Washington, DC to Suitland, Maryland.

Our primary concern is the amount of space at the Suitland facility. The Bureau of Labor Statistics employees provide valuable services to the American public and are concerned that without adequate space to house the additional 1,800 employees from the Bureau of Labor Statistics our members will have more difficulty performing the mission of the agency.

We strongly urge Senator Cardin to delay the relocation of BLS until the GSA study is released in June 2020. For questions please contact Fiona Kohrman at fiona.Kohrman@afge.org
